The Mairearad and Anna Big Band at The Arches as part of Celtic Connections was amazing fun!! We were very chuffed with our band of Natalie Hass on Cello, Eilidh Shaw and Gillian Frame on Fiddles, Tia Files on pipes, percussion, guitar and whistle and Laura-beth Salter on mandolin. We really hope to get this band on the go again for some festivals in the future. In the meantime it’s “just the two of us!” for our massive April tour, then Shetland Folk Festival, a tour of Austria, and finishing our long stint with a nice quiet one at Orkney Folk Festival!!!
For Hogmanay, Anna will be playing on the BBC ALBA Hogmanay show http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03mnhmc and Mairearad will be in Ullapool Village Hall doing a ceilidh with Rachel Newton, Eilean Green, Hamish Napier and Iain Copeland.
We hope to see you all at our very exciting Celtic Connections gig performing our recent album “Doubling” with some very talented special guests. Here is the link to the gig http://www.celticconnections.com/Events/Pages/Event.aspx?ev=849&ty=Celtic%20Connections
